We believe that effective, long term religious education starts in the home. Parents are the primary educators of the Faith. With our Family Catechesis Program we ensure that parents are able to take an active and concrete role in the faith formation of their children. Children and teens need to become lifelong Catholics and members of the Church. This starts by involving the whole family in the life of the church. With the flipped classroom model of the Faith and Life series, parents and children can learn vocabulary, doctrine, liturgical and spiritual elements of the Faith in about 20-40 minutes per week. In class, the catechist connects faith and life by reviewing concepts and studying practical ways to apply them to life!
In autumn 2017, we will start having the RE classes on Sundays between the morning Sunday Masses (9-10:15am). On those Sundays there will be volunteers to chaperone your children at Mass should you be unable to attend. REGULAR MASS ATTENDANCE IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED by BOTH parents and children. Attending the Mass allows children to integrate what they learned at home with their parents, and in class with the catechists with the Holy Mass. The Mass is our most important prayer as Catholic Christians. The Church tells us that celebrating the Mass is the “source and summit” of our Christian life. That means that our prayer at Mass on Sunday gives us strength to do good things the rest of the week! It also means that our prayer at Mass is so important that everything else we do should help us to prepare for it.
