St. Anne Parish

Children's Liturgy of the Word is now being offered on the first and third Sundays during the 8:30am and 10:30 am Masses from September through May. Children in Pre-3 – 2nd Grade are invited to join us to hear the readings and the Gospel proclaimed at their own level. They are then given the opportunity to discuss the readings and offer their own prayer intentions before returning to Mass in time for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

What happens at the Children's Liturgy of the Word?
Before the first reading Father Doyle will call the children to the front of church for a short blessing and then they will be escorted out of the sanctuary by the leader to the hear the readings and the Gospel at their own level and enjoy Catholic coloring pages, lesson plans, Mass worksheets, crafts and more. The children will return before the Eucharistic celebration begins. No pre-registration is necessary. All children are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Can I be a Children’s Liturgy of the Word volunteer?
Yes – Volunteer while you’re at church! We are in need of additional hands to help teach the Children’s Liturgy during the 8:30am and 10:30am Mass times. Each week’s materials are provided to you. Volunteers simply need to arrive a few minutes early to Mass to get supplies set up. Volunteers usually only have to teach once every other month, so the commitment is minimal…but you get to make a big impact! The more volunteers we have, the more flexible we can be. Please contact the Parish Office or text Jill Hayes 815.440.6434 if you are interested in volunteering.
