Religious Education Update

           The summer is flying by and it is time to begin thinking of the 2017-2018 Religious Education year. As you probably already know, our beloved DRE (Molly Smith) moved, and I will be taking her place as CRE.  I have big shoes to fill. I pray God will help me in this endeavor and I ask for your prayers as well!  

​            There are some exciting changes for this coming year. You will see the RE students more often as RE is now being held on certain Sundays between morning Masses. Please say hello and welcome them!  In addition to the time change, the RE program is introducing a Mass Chaperone program. After class, the Mass Chaperones will accompany to Mass the children who want to go. The Mass is our most important prayer as Catholic Christians.  It is through regular Mass attendance the RE students will be able to more readily integrate what they learn both at home and through RE into their daily lives.

​           In an effort to accommodate the busy lives of our young families, we have decided to utilize the flipped version of the Faith and Life Curriculum. This will allow parents and students to do the majority of work online. The catechist's job will be to review and help with life application. This has gone very well in other Parishes and we are very excited to bring it here!

          At the Sunday Vigil Mass on August 19, and the Masses on August 20th, there will be an RE representative in the foyer with registration materials.  Classes start September 10th at 9am; the parent meeting will be held in the Father Callahan Room on the first day of class.  Tuition is 60 dollars per child if you register by September 2.
