“Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation,” whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For ‘by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed’.” (CCC 1285)
The parents are the primary teachers of the faith (CCC 1653) and are responsible for preparing their children for the Sacraments. The Church understands that this task can be very challenging and helps by offering faith formation through the parish. Those attending Saint Anne Catholic School receive preparation during their normal religion class. Those who go to public or homeschool receive preparation through our Children's Religious Education program.
Requirements to receive Confirmation:
-Baptized Catholic and have received First Communion
-Properly prepared for Confirmation
Attendance at the Confirmation retreat is strongly encouraged.
